Just steps away from the cottage, Jekyll Island’s 10 miles of unspoiled beaches are perfect for sunbathing or swimming, for leisurely walks or invigorating jogs. Perhaps best known for their natural bounty, Jekyll Island’s beaches offer shell collecting for guests young and old. Many live creatures abound as well, including hermit crabs and sand dollars.

As the focal point of Jekyll’s famed Historic District, the Hotel is the ideal vantage point from which to explore Jekyll’s absorbing history.  On foot, abroad a motor tram or horse-drawn carriage, the District’s wondrous century of history comes alive.  Wander the museum, see the stunning Tiffany window in Faith Chapel, explore the grounds of the magnificent cottages once the winter retreats of turn-of-the-century tycoons.

Stroll through the mossy oaks while enjoying the 240-acre, riverfront compound and one of the largest, ongoing restoration projects in the southeastern United States.  Along those lines, the Jekyll Island Museum offers tours of its famed National Historic Landmark district, by tram. Passport to the Century is a full 90 minutes including entry into two of the cottages filled with rich tales and elegant furnishings.

Through sea turtle rehabilitation, research and education programs, the Georgia Sea Turtle Center is dedicated to increasing awareness of habitat and wildlife conservation challenges, promote responsibility for ecosystem health. Enjoy exploring exhibits on sea turtle conservation, rehabilitation, and their amazing journey from egg to adulthood.



Jekyll Island PierJekyll Island Pier

Enjoy breathtaking views of the Jekyll River as sailboats pull in and out of the dock .  There are also a handful of restaurants on the pier.  Latitude 31 is one of our personal favorites with it’s fresh seafood and creative entree selection!  Often there are also local artists there selling jewelry and hand made art.



GolfJekyll Island Golf

Jekyll Island has been a golf destination since 1898, when Jekyll Island Club members added the first course on the island near the present-day airport. Today, Jekyll Island boasts 63 holes of golf on three 18-hole courses and one 9-hole course, earning Jekyll Island the bragging rights as Georgia’s largest public golf resort.  Click Here to set Tee Times online!


Summer Waves WaterparkSummer Waves Water Park

More than a million gallons of splashing water fun, with 11 acres of rides, thrills, food, excitement and cool summer times all located on the island. Attractions at Summer Waves water park include a large wave pool, interactive water play area, kiddie pool and gentle flowing lazy river. For more excitement, Summer Waves has the Pirate’s Passage tube ride, Nature’s Revenge body slides and Force 3 enclosed, single or double rider water tube slides.  The park is great fun for children and adults alike!
